Living in Pismo Beach

 Hello and welcome to Pismo Beach California.

My wife and I have been living in Pismo Beach since 1996 and are very glad that we
made the move.

We gave up the house and big yard for a 30ft 5th wheel trailer.
What a difference. A whole lot easier to care for, which is a plus
when you are older.

The park we live in is quite most of the time except on the weekends
when the valley people come.

The valley includes mostly people who live away from here
in a hotter climate. They just come over to get out of the heat and
rest.

Before we moved here we were valley people. It doesn't take long to
start referring to others as valley people after you stay here awhile.

This small community is very peaceful compared to the place we left.
If you want a place that has very little crime and traffic then this is the
place.

Most people living and visiting here refer to this area as "Five Cities".
I believe this came about because there are five cities in close
proximity.

They are Arroyo Grande, Shell Beach, Oceano, Grover Beach and of
course Pismo Beach. Grover Beach was called Grover City when we
arrived in 1996.

By the way the photo above is a picture of me and my two granddaughters.

Do they like coming to Pismo Beach. They sure do and you can
guess why. The beach! Not to see the grandparents.

The youngest has learned to buggy board and the oldest likes to shop.

Just remember that the ocean water is very cold so don't get to far out
and get into trouble. At times the ocean can be very rough with under
currents.

However, if you like to walk, then the beach is the place for that.
Walking in the sand is better than the hard pavement.

Most of the people walk along the edge close to the ocean. The sand is
packed which makes walking easier than the soft sand.

On the other hand if you want some excerise then the soft sand is it. Its
a whole lot harder to walk in the soft sand. Try it and you will see the
difference.

Also, a new boardwalk was built which is great for people with strollers
and such. At least you can sit down on the benches that are provided
along the way.

It a nice place to sit and eat your lunch or just look at the great view in
front of you.

For those of us who like to take the easy way there is horseback riding
on the beach. There is a stable near by in Oceano that rents out horses
for riding. A lot of people take advantage of this, old and young.

Pismo Beach has a lot of places to go shopping with the Outlet Mall just
a few minutes away. This makes it easy for those visiting the area to
purchase what they need while here.

Also, lets don't forget the great shops in downtown Pismo. You can
purchase many souvenirs to remember your visit. If you like to shop
then you will have a great time. Many things to buy and just to look at.

Living in Pismo Beach is fun and relaxing because its small and not many
people. However, on the weekends it can get very busy because of the
people coming to Pismo Beach  to relax.
